Meet the Team

Steve Walker - Founding Trustee

Steve Walker was a founding trustee of the charity in 2001. Through his business at the time he had supported other charities but was frustrated by the lack of transparency and the amount of money spent on promotion and schmoozing to raise donations. It was never clear where the money went.

With the help of the staff, the decision was made to set up a charity to help seriously and terminally ill children and to evidence to supporters specifically how their money was being spent. A low cost model was central to this so that as much money as possible went to help children and their families. In addition, fundraisers could often support (and sometimes meet) specific children rather than feel their efforts and cash were disappearing into a pot of unaccountability.

In 2003 Steve set up Promise Money, a specialist mortgage and loan company, and Promise Dreams benefits from support and shared resources. It continues with the same aims, values and mission to maintain a lost cost and transparent model.

John Donovan - Trustee

John has been a supporter of the charity for many years and joined the Trustee Board back in 2008. From his advertising agency base in London John brings a different perspective to the Board and helps to plan for the charity's long-term growth and stability.

John Donnelly - Trustee

John has supported the charity since the beginning in 2001 and is our newest Trustee, joining the Board in January 2022. John has lots of ideas for fundraising and, with a strong business background in the holiday and travel sector, he has many connections and contacts. He is looking forward to inviting new supporters on board whilst continuing to work with existing supporters who have helped so much over the years.

Nikki Yeomans - Manager

Nikki set up the charity with the founding Trustees back in 2001. It was an exciting and special time - bringing on board Patrons, Supporters and Volunteers; organising the first events and making the first dreams come true. Nikki moved on after a few years to Birmingham City Centre for a change of career in the corporate world, however, she moved back in 2021 and it was in December of that year that she was invited to re-join the charity as Manager. She is very happy to be back and is passionate about taking the charity forward. Nikki is busy now re-establishing relationships with existing supporters and developing new relationships.

Suzy Cain - Administrator / Dream Co-ordinator

Suzy has worked for Promise Dreams part-time for 6 years. She first joined as Administrator but has now taken over the role of Dream Co-ordinator in addition. She finds it a privilege to work for the charity alongside some wonderful people helping to make dreams come true and put smiles on the faces of children we are able to help. Suzy feels her role is extremely challenging and rewarding and it is a pleasure to be able to help and assist the children and families during what is a difficult time for them.
