Sponsorship - Gift Aid
Tax Advantages:
Gift Aid provides a great opportunity for donors to increase the value of their donations. Any donations made by a company paying corporation tax or an individual paying income tax qualifies for Gift Aid. The donor signs a Gift Aid declaration and the charity then claims from the Inland Revenue the tax already paid in respect of the gift made, e.g. with tax at 22%, if the donor provides a gift of £780 the charity can claim a further £220 from the Inland Revenue. If the donor pays a higher rate of tax the whole £1000 can be deducted from higher rate liability and the total cost to the donor becomes £600.
